Installation Guide

PEEL + STICK WALLPAPER

I. Handling

We recommend consulting with a professional paperhanger for your installations. It helps to have two people when hanging wallpaper. Handle with care. Do not use tape on image surfaces. Be sure to avoid creasing or sharp folds at any point or this will damage the print. Please read instructions before beginning installation.

II. Wall Preparation

Check the wall for any imperfections or textured areas to determine if a sanding is necessary. If the walls have unstable paint, are textured or uneven, sanding is advised. Make sure all dust or residue has been wiped off before proceeding. If the walls have cracks, flaking or unstable paint, it is highly recommended to prime first. Use a clear primer sealer of your choice (we recommend GARDZ, or similar) and follow manufacturer instructions. Primer promotes proper wallpaper adhesion and allows for easy removal. After priming, wait at least 24 hours before beginning the installation.

III. Measuring Wall & Cutting Paper

When ready to begin, measure the wall height, then add 4” and cut your wallpaper. You want the paper to overlap at the ceiling and the baseboard by approximately 2” each. You will trim the excess off later.

Tip: Be sure to allow enough length for pattern match, either random, straight across or drop match.

IV. Hanging & Cutting

  1. Hang your first panel in an inconspicuous corner – pick a corner and lightly mark a line 8" over; this will be your starting line for your first panel. Never place the wallpaper panel right at the corner, as it will be hard to butt seams later. Use a level to ensure the line is drawn straight.
  2. Unroll your wallpaper with pattern-side down and adhesive-side up. Fold back and crease the adhesive liner about 8-10” away from the top to reveal the adhesive. Ensure you have enough of the backing peeled away to secure the wallpaper onto the wall.
  3. Hold the wallpaper a few inches away from the wall, pattern-side facing you. Use your hands to make the initial contact on the wall, ensuring the edge of the wallpaper is aligned along the drawn guideline. Move your hand horizontally across the wallpaper surface, adhering the first 6” to the wall. Once the wallpaper is adhered to the wall at the ceiling line, check for any wrinkles or bubbles. Smooth out any air bubbles with a wallpaper smoother (not a squeegee). If needed, peel and reapply wallpaper to reposition or release any air bubbles.
  4. As you work your way down the wall, make sure the wallpaper panel follows the guideline you drew in the beginning. Continue to peel the liner down 6-8” at a time. Hold the panel a few inches away from the wall, and repeat the process of adhering it with a wallpaper smoother, working from the middle of the panel outwards. If needed, carefully pull the panel off the wall to realign and smooth back down into place. Tip: Do not overwork the panels as this could scratch or stretch the wallpaper.
  5. Butt the second panel to the edge of the first panel and smooth out firmly. Ensure panels have a tight fit (no gaps between seams) and are free from air bubbles.
  6. Repeat steps 2-5 until you finish hanging wallpaper in your desired area.
  7. When finished hanging your wallpaper, use a fresh, straight-edge blade to trim the top and bottom of each panel to remove excess wallpaper. Wipe down the wallpaper with clean water and a sponge, and dry with a towel, avoiding any aggressive rubbing.

V. Cleaning/Maintenance

To remove dust, dirt, and grease, clean with a lightly dampened cloth or sponge with warm water. Use water sparingly and do not get overly wet. Clean the walls from the top down, using vertical motions. Pat gently with a clean soft cloth or bath towel to remove any surface moisture. Avoid aggressive rubbing. Do not use cleaners with harsh solvents as it can cause damage to your wallpaper.

Disclaimer

Please handle wallpaper with care and inspect all panels upon receiving your wallpaper checking for any damage that may have occurred during shipping. Open the roll and lay out each of your panels to confirm accuracy. Do not fold or crease the panels during installation as this will damage the material. Any problems that occur during the wallpaper preparation or installation process are not the responsibility of Greenly Living.
